Virtual
OVERVIEW
Presenter/Facilitator: Paul Kaak, PhD
This interactive faculty development opportunity will be facilitated by Paul Kaak, PhD, Senior Consultant/Lead Trainer for TheoMetrics, an organization that focuses on equipping faith-based CHE institutions to build robust systems of academic faith integration.
FREE 90-minute online, interactive workshop
Faculty, Deans, and Provosts are invited to attend a FREE 90-minute interactive workshop to consider academic faith integration from the pedagogical perspective of the Bible’s wisdom literature. Filled with surprises and strategies, Proverbs, Job, and Ecclesiastes consider faithful knowing in ways that both confirm and challenge the academic training of most university professors. Paradigm shifting perspectives and teaching practices emerge from a close look at how these biblical books teach wisdom. Applications will be made to a wide variety of disciplines and professions.
Participants will:
- Recognize how the Bible’s wisdom literature offers an academic-friendly and discipline-adaptive model for faith-based knowing,
- Articulate a non-coercive and intellectually hospitable approach to faith integration in their teaching context.
- Identify and adapt concrete pedagogical practices that reflect the teaching methods used in Proverbs, Job, and Ecclesiastes.
- Discern their role in forming students who become marked by humble confidence, intellectual courage, and who develop wisdom-based frameworks for faithful life-long learning.
