Presenter/Facilitator: Deborah Haarsma, PhD
Deborah Haarsma is an astrophysicist, author, and the Executive Director of the International Network for Christian Higher Education. She served as President of BioLogos from 2013 to 2024 and is a frequent speaker at universities, churches, and conferences on science and Christian faith. She is co-author of the book Originswith her husband and fellow scientist, Loren Haarsma, presenting multiple Christian views on creation, evolution, and design, and has contributed chapters to several books including Delight in Creation and Christ and the Created Order.
Previously, Haarsma had a 20-year career in astrophysics research and was professor and chair of the Physics & Astronomy department at Calvin University. She earned a PhD at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and bachelor’s degrees in physics and music at Bethel University in Minnesota.

Faculty and academic leaders are invited to a FREE 90-minute online, interactive workshop to discuss faith & learning with STEM peers from CCCU institutions.
Participants will:
- Discuss key principles for how Christian faith impacts the work of science, tech, and healthcare.
- Explore the needs of today’s students and techniques for addressing STEM topics in a polarized culture.
- Be inspired by concrete examples of student activities for lecture, lab, internships, and departments.
- Begin developing a practical application for your own context.
