PLENARY SESSION: NAVIGATING HIGHER ED'S NEXT DEFINING MOMENT—STATE OF THE UNION FOR PRIVATE COLLEGES & UNIVERSITIES 

Private colleges and universities face stark market realities: shifting demographic and economic trends and changing student decision-making factors. This session will unpack the attendant financial and enrollment pressures and outline the emerging playbook of potential strategies for sustainability that various colleges are exploring.

PLENARY SESSION: FAITH, FRIENDSHIP, & FAIRNESS FOR ALL

The CCCU’s Shirley Hoogstra will sit down with Tyler Deaton from the American Unity Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing freedom for LGBT Americans, for a candid conversation on unexpected outcomes, developing a deeper understanding of faith and action, and abiding friendship. They will also discuss their collaborative work on the Fairness for All Act, legislation that preserves religious freedom and addresses LGBT civil rights under federal law, followed by an open time of Q&A.

How can we as Christians think about leadership in spaces of harmony but also in spaces of contention? President Shirley Hoogstra will share her thoughts on the responsibilities of a Christian leader, as well as provide a brief update on the CCCU and the organization’s continued work in Washington, D.C. to advance faith and intellect for the common good.
