According to its web site, the Institute for Global Engagement (IGE) is a "think tank with legs," created to develop sustainable environments for religious freedom worldwide, and to inspire and equip emerging leaders with faith-based methodologies of engagement. Founded by Robert Seiple, the first-ever U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom, the Institute uniquely combines research and teaching with a strategic operational component that seeks solutions to complex political and religious problems in difficult parts of the world.

In this age of widespread religious conflict, finding such solutions requires a deep understanding of geopolitical realities and an approach that is at once as "shrewd as snakes" and as "innocent as doves." To meet this challenge, the Institute partners with foreign governments, religious organizations, academic experts, and international advocacy groups to take on innovative projects that strike at the root of religious persecution.
