Habib Malik, chairman of The Charles Malik Foundation, delivered this address at the 27th annual CCCU Presidents Conference Feb.3, 2003. Malik was born in Washington, D.C., and holds both United States and Lebanese citizenship. He has taught in universities both in Lebanon and in Washington during the past 17 years and currently divides his time now teaching at the Lebanese American University and with the Library of Congress, researching his late father's archives. Malik has participated in many conferences on the Middle East, Lebanon, Christianity in the Arab world, human rights, democracy and Kierkegaard studies.
