LOS ANGELES—Voices of Lee, a vocal ensemble from CCCU member Lee University, gained national attention with a third place finish on “The Sing-Off,” an a cappella competition which aired on NBC in late December garnering an estimated average of seven million viewers.
The four-night NBC prime-time special was hosted by Nick Lachey and judged by Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman and Nicole Scherzinger. According to NBC producers, more than 800 singing groups were considered as contestants, before eight were chosen in auditions around the country to appear on the show.
The competition judges consistently commented on the integrity, spirit and skill with which the 10-member Voices of Lee sang. The winners were selected through viewer votes.
"We are thrilled with the positive exposure Lee University got from this show. Our kids were on network primetime four nights, and the visibility for our institution was tremendous,” says Lee University President Paul Conn. “It was really exciting to watch these students on a national stage. These ten kids are so typical of the thousands of students who attend Christ-centered colleges around the country -- I couldn't have been prouder if I were their daddy!”
