WASHINGTON, D.C.—Members of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities feature prominently in the 2009 edition of the college rankings published by U.S. News & World Report. At the national university, national liberal arts, masters and baccalaureate levels, CCCU campuses are recognized as top colleges in America.

“It is exciting and gratifying to see our institutions recognized for their outstanding educational opportunities,” says CCCU President Paul R. Corts. "To see such strong representation of our membership across all the various categories affirms the commitment toward innovation, progress and meeting the need of students and communities in a shifting world."

This year, CCCU campuses were ranked in the following academic categories based upon types of academic degrees offered: six institutions were ranked as national universities, 14 institutions are assessed as National Liberal Arts Colleges, 40 campuses were noted as Best Universities-Master’s (North, South, Midwest, West) and 35 institutions were awarded as Best Baccalaureate Colleges (North, South, Midwest, West).

In addition, CCCU institutions rank in several specialty categories, including Racial Diversity, Economic Diversity, Best Engineering Schools, Highest Graduate Rates, Small Classes, Up and Coming Schools, “A+ Schools for B Students,” Sending Students Abroad, Least Debt and Great Schools, Great Prices.

Rankings are based on the following criteria: Peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving and graduation rate performance.
