ATLANTAThe board of directors for the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) voted to accept three new affiliate institutions into the organization on Feb. 24, 2010, during a meeting held during the International Forum on Christian Higher Education in Atlanta. The new affiliates are:
- Alderson Broaddus College, Philippi, W.V.
- Avondale College, Cooranbong, NSW, Australia
- Samford University, Birmingham, Ala.
Atlanta Christian College of East Point, Ga., had been voted into the CCCU via a conference call by the board of directors on Dec. 19, 2009. These new affiliates bring the CCCU total of 184 institutions: 109 members and 75 affiliates from 24 nations around the world.
Alderson Broaddus College in West Virginia was founded in 1871. The American Baptist institution serves 575 FTE students.
Avondale College, a Seventh Day Adventist institution founded in 1897, has 1286 FTE students between its two campuses: Lake Macquarie and Sydney, Australia.
Samford University in Alabama was founded in 1841. The Baptist school now offers baccalaureate, masters and doctoral programs to its FTE 4658 students.
Founded in 1937, Georgias Atlanta Christian College is affiliated with Christian Churches/ Churches of Christ. The college currently serves a student body of 322 FTE.
The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities is a higher education association of 184 intentionally Christ-centered institutions around the world. There are now 109 member campuses in North America and all are fully-accredited, comprehensive colleges and universities with curricula rooted in the arts and sciences. In addition, 75 affiliate campuses from 24 countries are part of the CCCU. The Councils mission is to advance the cause of Christ-centered higher education and to help its institutions transform lives by faithfully relating scholarship and service to biblical truth.
