MARION, Ind.The CCCU Center for Research in Adult Learning at Indiana Wesleyan University is coordinating a retention study among Christian college adult programs. Several years of data indicate that these adult programs attract and retain a substantial number of minority students. Entrance Survey data from seven Christian colleges indicate that 18percent of adult program students are African American and 7 percent are from other minority groups. Graduation Survey data indicate that 16 percent are African American and 7 percent are from other minority groups. At a time when many educators and policy makers are scratching their heads trying to figure out how to increase minority graduation rates, it is clear that adult programs at Christian colleges are already excelling in this area.
