International Roster of Speakers Confirmed for 2006 CCCU Forum

Forum_LogoWASHINGTON,D.C.-Global leaders hailing from the U.S., the United Kingdom and the Middle East have been confirmed as speakers/workshop leaders for the 2006 CCCU International Forum on Christian Higher Education. The event, to be held March 30- April1, 2006, at the brand new Gaylord Texan Resort in Dallas, will also celebrate the CCCU's 30th year of advancing the cause of Christ-centered higher education.

The roster of speakers for the third International Forum include:

  • Abuna Elias Chacour. Chacour is the founder of Mar Elias Educational Institutions (MEEI), located in the Galilee area of Israel, the only private campus in the history of Galilee where Christians, Muslims, Jews and Druze can live and learn together. He has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize three times. He is the author of Blood Brothers and We Belong to the Land.
  • Craig Detweiler. Detweiler is associate professor and chair of mass communications at Biola University(CA). He is also a screenwriter and the author of the book, A Matrix of Meanings: Finding God in Pop Culture. With an M.F.A. from the University of Southern California's School of Cinema/TV and a M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary, he has served as producer of the City of the Angels Film Festival and on the advisory boards for Reel Spirituality, the Heartland Film Festival, and Act One.
  • Alister McGrath. McGrath is professor of historical theology at Oxford University and director of the Oxford Centre for Evangelism and Apologetics. He is one of the most widely read and influential Christian writers in the world, and travels extensively to speak at conferences and missions. He has written a number of important works on Reformation history and theology, and on the development and prospects for Evangelicalism worldwide.
  • Brenda Salter McNeil. McNeil's organization, Salter McNeil & Associates, LLC, is a racial and ethnic reconciliation training, consulting and leadership development company based in Chicago. She is a spiritually dynamic speaker whose biblically based messages raise awareness, ignite vision and inspire action in those who hear her speak on college and university campuses, in churches and at conferences.
  • Dallas Willard. A professor in the School of Philosophy at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, Willard's philosophical publications are mainly in the areas of epistemology, the philosophy of mind and of logic, and on the philosophy of Edmund Husserl. His book Renovation of the Heart received Christianity Today's 2003 Book Award in the category of spirituality. Dr. Willard is a frequent speaker to groups regarding the Christian faith, the spiritual disciplines, and the connections between belief, worldview, and action.
