The Vines

Named for the enchanting vines that climb its walls, The Vines is a turn-of-the-century brick Victorian mansion tucked away on 1.5 acres of park-like woodland, yet still convenient to the city. Built at the end of the 18th century for Professor Vines and his family and staff, this grand home is nestled on the crest of Headington Hill, complete with walking paths among the trees and majestic views of the stunning Oxford spires.
Ideally located, the mansion and grounds sit along the path of C.S. Lewis' former commute and are a mere three to five minute walk to the nearest stop for buses to Oxford city centre, London and London airports and just around the bend from the setting for the highly acclaimed Shakespeare Outdoor Summer Theatre.
The Vines was recently renovated with a large self-catering kitchen, dining room, laundry facilities, and a well-furnished common room overlooking the gardens. There are no en-suite facilities but recently remodeled bathrooms are available for every two-three rooms. There is parking for 2-3 cars. The house is on a main bus route into the city centre (5 minute walk to the station and a 10 minute ride into the centre). The city centre is a 10 minute ride by bicycle and it can be reached on foot in about 25 minutes.
The Vines' 40 beds are divided into three single rooms, six double rooms, two triple rooms and five quad rooms. Family rooms can be arranged for parties of more than three persons and are available for a set rate. Family rooms are available for a set rate, while other room rates are charged per person.
Rooms are dispersed over 3 floors.
