2013 Governance Institute

Conference Overview

The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities is pleased to announce the dates for the 2013 Governance Institute. The 2013 institute will take place July 17-19, beginning at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 17 and ending at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 19.

With a dynamic new agenda and a participatory priority, the Governance Institute is designed for a president and board chair participating together in their uniquely critical governance role and relationship. Seminars on the characteristics of effective boards and board development prepare this institutional leadership team to enhance the strength of their board. Sessions on creating effective relationships between the president and board chair and between the president and board members will encourage the president and board to continue to develop their professional and personal relationship. Finally, sessions on vision casting and strategic planning and the board's role in building relationships with campus and community constituencies are intended to revitalize the team's efforts to strengthen their institution. Many seminars are followed by time for campus teams to work privately and practically together to apply the sessions' principles to their individual institution. Highly-interactive in an adventuresome resort setting, the Governance Institute encourages presidents and board chairs to develop relationships with one another and with their peers as they seek to face the challenges and embrace the opportunities of the future together.
